Who We Are

Looking back, there has been an attraction to bees for quite some time. I (Kristy) have always loved honey and thought bees were interesting. I made a wire sculpture of a bee in high school and won an art scholarship. I took honey bee biology at Texas A&M. I’ve collected honey for almost 20 years from all over North America during various trips. Little did I know where it would lead!

Brett and I married in 2016 and bought our farm in 2017. We’ve been raising cattle with our families since we were knee-high to a grasshopper. Hogs and bees came once we bought our current farm and were trying to make an identity for ourselves.

In June 2019, because of ideal rainfall, the gum bumelia tree in our yard was chock-full of blooms. Brett called me outside and asked me to “listen to the tree.” The sound and sight of feral bees in the canopy working the tree was awe-inspiring! So, we bought our first 2 hives from a friend in 2020. Brett had no interest in getting involved until we did a bee removal for a neighbor in 2021. His fascination joined mine! What started as a hobby has quickly become a passion. We jumped in feet first and LOVE all things bee related!
